Laylocks Garden Centre
A fantastic space for a thriving local business.
This family owned garden centre made the decision to expand the premises in 2023 and came to JRC with their vision of how they would like the building to look. It was important to give the right space inside for their customers to move around and equally important to look impressive outside due to it being right at the front of the centre as you drive in.

Curved Roof Cladding
The idea from the client was to create to curved roofs with a lower lean-to roof at the front. This was to give a pleasing view of the centre as you drive into site and soften the contrast the high pitched roofs already on site. We installed portal framed rafters with stepped cleats to provide the curve effect then installed a built up system curved to the required radius. The flashings were all curved to suit and finished the roof off at the ends.

Joining up the areas.
The customers needed to be able to walk through from the existing retail area into the new and seamlessly move through to the outdoor exhibitions. This meant joining the new building to the existing building and installing gutters and cladding to some difficult areas. Our site teams were up to the challenge and we used a portable scaffold system to access the tight spots.
Colours & Cladding
As well as fitting a composite wall cladding to the external faces of the new building, the client wanted to break up the texture and colours and instructed us to install a horizontal composite lap boarding product to the front elevation. This was fixed to the composite panels which retained the thermal values while providing a natural, sleek look to the area customers would go past on their way in.
